This is the answer to “versatile” power. Mission Mobility has designed an adapter which allows power to pull from the battery while in use. It eliminates unwanted noise.

The Twist-Lock Power Adapter is an original Mission Mobility product
designed to provide versatility for the user to achieve 4 GOALS:
USE EXTERNAL POWER (10-36V) to run the twist-lock device (radio), and
2. CHARGE or maintain full-charge on the twist-lock battery (MBITR), and
3. SILMULTANEOUSLY USE 12V output power, up to 1.5A (camera), and
4. USE 5V output to power devices/accessories, up to 2.1A (phone)
